Network antennas form part of the invisible backbone of any modern urban environment; we call, we surf—we don‘t even remember what life was like without mobile networks. Nokia Siemens Networks came up with a challenge for Aalto students: “What would an antenna look like in a future (2020) urban environment? Create an antenna that we don‘t need to hide!”

Aalto University, the Association of Professional Graphic Designers in Finland and the Finnish Association of Designers are cooperatively organizing a design contest. The aim of the contest is to create a memorial to the donors who provided funds for the University’s endowment capital. The contest is open to Aalto students, staff members and alumni.

The Genius Loci book introduces architecture, art and design at the School of Economics of the Aalto University. The idea for Genius Loci book came out of a project exploring the campus identity of the School of Economics and the walking tours arranged at and around the school.

365 Wellbeing
365 Wellbeing contains of 12 projects which represent actual services or processes in the cities of Helsinki, Espoo, Kauniainen and Lahti. Projects address different dimensions of wellbeing, focusing in particular on municipal wellbeing services and patient-centered health care solutions.

Oasis – a true 'living' room in Annantalo's yard
Master’s degree students from the Department of Architecture will be co-operating with Annantalo Arts Centre to implement a plan for rebuilding the garden area at Annantalo. The goal is to turn the garden into a pleasant, functional and barrier-free environment that is suitable for children, young people and families.

Pavilion

Students of Aalto University designed a wooden pavilion which was placed in an empty lot between Museum of Finnish Architecture and Design Museum in Helsinki in spring 2012. The Pavilion is a temporary construction and serves as a World Design Capital Helsinki 2012 as a hub and a meeting place for the general public, the media and visiting international experts during the summer months. The Pavilion house also an café.

EASA (European Architecture Students Assembly) is an independent event of architecture students, with an annually changing venue country. EASA can be described as a two-week long architecture festival for about 500 architecture students taking part. Over 42 countries and over 240 architecture schools are represented from all over Europe.
