Aalto on Waves

Aalto on Waves is a student-driven innovation project in which 110 members of the Aalto community travel by ship to Brazil.

Critical Studio

OK Do run a course at the School of Arts, Design and Architecture to explore alternative modes of establishing a practice and encourage individual voices in the creative field.

Sharetribe is a project targeted at making neighborhoods more social, and encouraging residents to act more ecologically. During 2012 there will be 5-15 neighborhoods selected from the Helsinki capital region and Lahti area to taking in part in the project.

365 Wellbeing

365 Wellbeing contains of 12 projects which represent actual services or processes in the cities of Helsinki, Espoo, Kauniainen and Lahti. Projects address different dimensions of wellbeing, focusing in particular on municipal wellbeing services and patient-centered health care solutions.

Base of the Pyramid

Base of the Pyramid aims at creating sustainable projects for emerging markets. The need for such initiatives stems from the fact that around two thirds of the population live on under 5 euros a day.

Cumulus Helsinki: Northern World Mandate

The Cumulus Conference will follow the overall theme of the World Design Capital Helsinki 2012 theme “Open Helsinki – Embedding Design in Life”. EASA (European Architecture Students Assembly) is an independent event of architecture students, with an annually changing venue country. EASA can be described as a two-week long architecture festival for about 500 architecture students taking part. Over 42 countries and over 240 architecture schools are represented from all over Europe.
