Builders of the Future

Aalto University, the Association of Professional Graphic Designers in Finland and the Finnish Association of Designers are cooperatively organizing a design contest. The aim of the contest is to create a memorial to the donors who provided funds for the University’s endowment capital. The contest is open to Aalto students, staff members and alumni.

The objective of the contest is to design a memorial to the individuals, companies and foundations that made a contribution to the endowment capital of Aalto University. The names of donors will be included in the memorial. At the time of the design contest’s launch, some 1200 donors had contributed.

The awards

The jury will award the three best proposals after the second stage. The awards are following: 1st prize €10.000, 2nd prize €5.000 and 3rd prize €3.000. In addition to this, the jury may choose to hand out 2-3 special recognitions. The amount of the first prize is fixed, but the jury is allowed to otherwise alter the prize money allocation. 

The jury members

The jury consists of Aalto University representatives and art and design experts and it is chaired by Executive Dean Helena Hyvönen. The jury members are: Professor, Executive Dean Helena Hyvönen, Aalto University President Tuula Teeri, Aalto University fundraising Director Jyri Tawast, international member Eero Koivisto, Grafia representative Marja Seliger and Ornamo representative Kristina Riska.

The winner will be annouced in February 2012.
