Co-Core -open critique session

Rather than showing off the finished work, Co-Core intends to mix the formats of exhibition and pedagogical presence. Co-Core is a cross-cultural and cross-disciplinary project aiming at presenting and discussing student works in a rich dialogue with teachers and students from different universities.

School of Arts, Design and Architecture, Department of Design, has been involved in the Co-Core project since its’ beginning in 2008. The other partner universities are Academy of Arts & Design, Tsinghua University (China), Central Academy of Fine Arts (China), Tama Art University (Japan) and College of Fine Arts, Hongik University (South-Korea).
The next Co-Core event will be held in Helsinki in December 2012.
Last year Co-Core held in Seoul, this year in Helsinki
In a event held in October 2011 in Hongik University in Seoul, there were more than 50 works on display and under discussion from five international universities. Department of Design from Aalto University was partaking in the event with faculty and students.
In Seoul the representatives MA students of Design Department were: Kaarina Eno (Fashion Design), Lauri Löppönen (Industrial and Strategic Design), Emmi Pouta (Textile Design), Maria Riekkinen (Spatial Design), Tuomas Rossi (Applied Art & Design), Hinni Soini (Furniture Design) and Toni Kauppila (project director).

Co-Core is an international university partnership endeavor, which produces open critique- and seminar events worldwide. Their goal is to increase dialog on an international level regarding art and design in both the working life as an on an educational level.
