Oasis – a true 'living' room in Annantalo's yard

Master’s degree students from the Department of Architecture will be co-operating with Annantalo Arts Centre to implement a plan for rebuilding the garden area at Annantalo. The goal is to turn the garden into a pleasant, functional and barrier-free environment that is suitable for children, young people and families.

The architecture students have been given the task of planning solutions for enlivening the garden, which can range from urban and landscape planning to the designing of lighting and objects. The students will learn more about Annantalo's activities and needs for space, examine the existing building and its immediate surroundings, and plan new solutions for the garden area at Annantalo. An exhibition and documentation will be produced on the basis of the proposals.

Children and city residents also involved in the planning

Annantalo is an arts centre for children and young people. Its aim is to provide a favourable atmosphere and the right conditions for children and youth to experience and see art and culture in Helsinki.

In spring 2012, all city residents are also welcome to submit their own proposals for enlivening the garden.

Annantalo Arts Centre will be creating two architectural groups for children and young people, and they will participate in the garden planning with their own plans. The groups will be working with the students of architecture.

The aim of this co-operation is to interactively study the teaching at a professional university school and the teaching and learning processes of architectural art education for children and young people.
