Masters of Aalto

Masters of Aalto is a yearly event presenting thesis projects of new master graduates from all Aalto University schools.
In Masters of Aalto (MoA) 2012 research and projects done by the newly graduated masters will be presented both as an exhibition and events. All the schools within the Aalto University are being exhibited.
The exhibition will present a wide range of projects – everything from the basic needs of humans to satellites in outer space.
Buzzing of events
In May, Aalto University is buzzing of events and most of them inviting you to join MoA. The program consists of events like Science Slam, a student project fair, movie screenings, seminars, workshops and much much more.
The research and projects presented in MoA give the public an opportunity to get acquainted with the university.
MoA is aiming to be a truly joint festivity for the whole university.
The curator for 2012 is Maaretta Jaukkuri
The MoA 2012 is curated by Professor Maaretta Jaukkuri. She has previously worked as an intendant at Museum of Contemporary Art in Helsinki, Kiasma.
The thesis of Maija Liiri, who is about to graduate as a Master of Science (Technology) from the School of Chemical Technology, was presented at Masters of Aalto 2012. She examines the properties of a new plywood product, which is making a claim to be the most revolutionary innovation in the plywood industry for 30 years.
The winners of the Radical Redesign Me! competition, organised by the Radical Design Week, will arrive in Finland, ready to experience radical Finnish redesigning.
Among the awarded was a thesis visualizing meat production, research on daily life and routines, a thesis about service design for better customer relationships and a service design project combining libraries and tourism. Also an ergonomic half-there chair, photos of ethnic restaurants, a three-dimensional knot ornamentation project and a thesis focusing on window space were given prizes.
A designer, an architect, and an artist walk in to a sustainably-built bar... Dan Hill, Toshiko Mori and Marika Wachtmeister visit Masters of Aalto on 29 May at 3 pm.
Masters of Aalto is now open! At the MoA’12 festival Aalto University professionals will showcase their open-minded approaches to the challenges we will face in the future during an exhibition and over 30 individual events. MoA’12 will be open in Jätkäsaari, Helsinki from 9 May to 3 June. The festival features Master’s thesis projects by over one hundred graduates.
